Shamelessly Committing Piracy....

Hi.

So, years ago a high school friend made me a birthday present -- two mix tapes containing everything George Harrison had done to date, starting from the Beatles and continuing up to the then-present-day Traveling Wilburies. George was the theme because he and I shared a birthday.

It was a great gift, and I got into the habit of playing the tapes every year on my birthday ever since. But for the past couple years, I've been remiss -- I don't have a reliable cassette player any more.

I just got iTunes and thought, hey, let me reconstruct those tapes on a mix CD. But when I went to iTunes -- with the full intent of purchasing the tracks -- I found that all of the Beatles tracks are unavailable. Boo!

I COULD buy the full CDs from the Beatles web site -- that seems to be my only option. But that would get rather costly, rather quick. So.

...Anyone have any Beatles mp3's, in which George sang lead? Would you be willing to negotiate sending me copies? (I was able to find a copy of the song "It's All Too Much" from this weird obscure Portuguese site, but it looks like the "Yellow Submarine" soundtrack file is the only album they had that hasn't been removed.)

Thanks -- I'm already purchasing the individual George solo tracks I wanted for this, so my sins are somewhat softned.

I'm just that good.

(You may want to look into torrenting some of the Purple Chick remasters of the albums, which'll get you alternate takes and whatnot.)

I probably have almost all the Beatles material, some solo George, and the first Wilburys album. What do you want/need?

Whoa, that was fast...

I actually broke down and got the two Wilburys songs I need, and Jacob just burned HARD DAY'S NIGHT and ALL THINGS MUST PASS for me.

....But it looks like [info]gruyere just came through with exactly what I needed.

Whoa.

Actually, if you have these three:

* Roll Over Beethoven
* Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby
* For You Blue

That would be perfection.

Got the first two right here - I can easily pong the last over from CD - would you want the original LET IT BE version or the "NAKED" remix?

It looks like the Beatles have a really tight hold on their material -- not even Amazon lets you BUY the individual mp3 tracks.

I would hazard a guess that it's Michael Jackson -- wait, he does still own the catalog, yes?

I've also never really known what Torrent really was, to be honest.
